Hope

The dream was shattered again.
Like a withered leaf;
Crushed by an innocent passerby.

The canvas was empty again
Like a castle of sand;
Swept away by the sea waves.

But the eyes are ready again
To paint some new dreams
With the hues of hope and faith.

That's human spirit, to build castles in sand again; and again. Let the waves take it away, but between one wave and the next, the castles were there...

Beautiful lines, Kalpanaji!

Dreams are made to shatter
like glass pipettes
Likewise,
contours in the sand

A canvas
however
another story,
altogether

Hope is a tattered flag and a dream of time.
Hope is a heartspun word, the rainbow, the shadblow in white
The evening star inviolable over the coal mines,
The shimmer of northern lights across a bitter winter night,
The blue hills beyond the smoke of the steel works,
The birds who go on singing to their mates in peace, war, peace,
The ten-cent crocus bulb blooming in a used-car salesroom,
The horseshoe over the door, the luckpiece in the pocket,
The kiss and the comforting laugh and resolve—
Hope is an echo, hope ties itself yonder, yonder...

Kalpana, I looked up this poem by Carl Sandburg on reading your beautiful poem. Keep hope flying, dear friend.

Hey Sid thanks a lot .... it seems you are reading my blog after long time.

@Lil Miss.. thanks for visiting and hope you'll continue visiting

@ Manikchand: We all think differently and also relate to things differently isn't it.

@ Venuji: Your comments are always very inspiring. To be honest I wait desperately to read your comment.

Thank you, Kalpana. Sometimes I am slow coming round to my friends' blogs. Life of a journalist can become hectic on some days, often for several days at a stretch. Sometimes, even if I read I may not have time to comment. I know you are honest.

I'm afraid I'm coming in here pretty late.
The words you coined into a spell binding rainbow of human spirit is truly as beautiful as a rainbow can be.
Wonderfully expressed and the only way forward hope.
